Art Fair East 2022

Kintsugi landscape 1  by Brian Korteling

Art Fair East 2022
Friday 2nd December 10.30am to 5.30pm
Saturday 3rd December 10.30am to 6.00pm
Sunday 4th December 10.30am to 5pm

Art Fair East is the region’s biggest art fair and will return to Norwich this December. It was founded in 2015 by leading Norfolk-based artists Will Teather and Brian Korteling.

Here Will tells us all we need to know about this year’s event…
What is Art Fair East and what can visitors expect?
Art Fair East is the largest event of our kind in the region, which sees artists and dealers gathered together from across the UK and overseas. There is a real buzz to the exhibition, with so much to see and many artists there in person for visitors to chat to. This year we have artists set to come from as far as India for the event. In previous editions we have hosted a wide variety of artwork, from young talents to signed Banksy prints. There is nothing else quite like Art Fair East in the area. When and where is Art Fair East taking place? Art Fair East takes place at St Andrews Hall, Norwich - in the heart of the city’s cultural quarter.

How many artists will be taking part and where are they from?
We have many well-loved local talents such as Claire Oxley, Patricia Robinson and Damian O'Connor bringing paintings and sculpture to this year’s fair. We also have some excellent galleries such as Hunter Gallery from Bury St Edmunds and Clifton Fine Art from Bristol who stock everything from pop art to contemporary landscapes and bronzes. From further afield we have many international visitors including Nandini Sharma, a talented realist painter from India. Brian and I are artists ourselves and will be bringing our latest works to the fair. Although my studio is based in Norwich, I often have to send my latest creations straight to shows in London and New York, so it is a rare chance to see my freshest ideas closer to home.

What types of artworks will be on show?
With around 1,000 artworks on display, a range of contemporary art will be exhibited including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, video art, installation, kinetic art and original limited edition prints.

Is all the work for sale?
All the work is for sale - this is a fantastic opportunity to choose a unique artwork for your home, support artists and perhaps invest in a future star.

What are the prices of the artworks?
Artworks typically start from £40 upwards for signed prints by emerging talent to tens-of-thousands of pounds for major pieces by established names.

Why was St Andrews Hall chosen as the venue?
St Andrews Hall is a beautiful venue with lots of light and space for a large exhibition. It is also in the middle of the city's cultural quarter.

What facilities are there at St Andrews Hall?
The hall has toilets and we will have a cafe on site for the duration of the event.

How can I get tickets?
There is no need to book in advance - tickets are available on the door. Tickets £5 or £3.50 concessions, under 16s Free

Who organises Art Fair East?
Art Fair East is organised by myself, Will Teather, and Brian Korteling. We are both artists and could see a need for an event of this kind in the area. We are passionate about bringing contemporary art to the region, supporting artists and creating excitement around the visual arts.

Who sponsors Art Fair East?
The event is sponsored by Musker McIntyre and Chadwicks, Art Fair East wouldn't be the same without them.
