The museum shop, Country & Eastern, has a unique range of clothing and jewellery as well as beautiful home furnishings, oriental rugs and gifts that are sourced directly from suppliers and craftspeople in South Asia. The story of SADAAC
In 1979 Philip and Jeannie Millward began their journey in Lahore and, over the course of several trips, finished in Karachi nine months later. As they travelled, they began to collect objects made by local craftspeople: including carved woodwork, old copper and brass items, embroidered Sindhi shawls and phulkaris. This journey was the start of a life-long passion for the arts and crafts of South Asia and would result in a thriving shop, museum and research centre. |
