This Is The Place
- A photographic Portrait of Magdalen Street Norwich by Katherine Mager
August 11 to 21 at the Forum, Millennium Plain Photographer Katherine Mager has spent the first half of 2015 producing a unique photographic portrait of Magdalen Street in Norwich. The results will be exhibited at The Forum in Norwich between August 11th and 21st. The photographs showcase the richness and diversity of the businesses on this old Norwich Street bringing out the character and creativity behind the shops in this busy street at a time when this aspect of city life is under greater pressure than ever. The portraits celebrate the colour and design on display at many of these unique businesses and highlight how people have come from all over the world to Norwich to contribute to the daily life and experience of living here. The business owners have greatly welcomed Katherine’s project and have been willing portrait participants. Business owner Eric of Out of Time Records said “It’s great that Magdalen Street is being shown in this way. It is a hidden gem of Norwich.” Katherine Mager has been a professional photographer for several years and has carried out projects with the Border Community Record Label, Cinema City, Norwich Arts Centre and ShopArt Norwich. She is a Masters graduate of Norwich University of the Arts. In recognition of her artistic work Katherine received a grant from Arts Council England to make this project possible. The Project has also been supported by Anglia Square, Norfolk County Council and Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts. The exhibition is being curated by Alice Lee. The exhibition will be in the main foyer of The Forum on Millennium Plain from 10am on Tuesday 11 August. https://twitter.com/MagStNorwich15 https://instagram.com/thisistheplace2015 For interviews or more details contact as follows: [email protected] or [email protected] or Stuart Hobday on [email protected] or 07821 811690 |
