Royal Drawing School

Royal Drawing School Drawing Clubs for 10-18 year olds; St Mary's House, Duke Street NR3 1QA

Picture
The Royal Drawing School is an independent, not-for- profit resource that aims to raise the standard and profile of drawing through teaching and practice. It is one of only a few institutions in the world offering in-depth, quality tuition in drawing from observation.

Drawing Clubs are for young people aged 10-14, while Young Associates are for 15-18 year-olds. Taught by professional practicing artists, the weekly classes will lead students through a range of observational drawing exercises to create a portfolio of high-quality work.

Our ten-week Saturday drawing courses aim to develop children’s drawing abilities and sustain their enthusiasm for self-expression within an artist-led environment. They support students’ pursuit of a wide range of creative subjects in school, further and higher education, and open doors to careers in the arts, design, architecture, and science.

During the course of the term students will work through a range of exercises, drawing from clothed models and still life set-ups, as well as working outside and visiting local galleries and museums.

The classes are based in St Mary's House, Duke Street in the heart of Norwich’s creative quarter. We have our own dedicated studio, with access to easels and a range of different materials which are supplied.

This latter course is particularly useful for those making portfolios for applications to art and design courses. Many universities specially ask for examples of observational drawings. Our tutors can offer help and advice with applications.

The school is committed to making all courses offered affordable and available to those who have a passion and aptitude for drawing.
Therefore we offer a number of 50% and 100% means-tested scholarships for each course as well.

Spaces for our Norwich Drawing Club and Young Associates courses are still available and we welcome students to join part way through the term. If you are interested in booking for either course, please contact us at [email protected]
