Royal Drawing School Drawing Clubs for 10-18 year olds at Lion House, Norwich NR3 1DJ
Classes are suspended for the time-being due to Covid-19 - we will let you know when they start up again
The Royal Drawing School is an independent, not-for- profit resource that aims to raise the standard and profile of drawing through teaching and practice. It is one of only a few institutions in the world offering in-depth, quality tuition in drawing from observation.
Drawing is a primary language natural to all human beings, and fundamental to all aspects of learning and thinking from childhood onwards. It is a crucial route to innovation across the creative disciplines and beyond, from fashion, fine art and animation to filmmaking, product design and engineering. For some people, drawing is the easiest way of thinking. By offering tuition and resources to art students, artists, children and the public, it aims to address the permanent need for high-quality drawing teaching in the UK, filling a gap left by the steady erosion of observational drawing from the study of art in higher education and in schools. Founded in 2000 by HRH The Prince of Wales and artist Catherine Goodman as The Prince’s Drawing School, it became the Royal Drawing School in 2014. For more information visit royaldrawingschool.org or phone 020 7613 8568.Drawing Clubs are for 10 to 14 year olds who have a passion for drawing and want to learn and improve their skills. Regular drawing at any age can enhance focus and concentration and increase self-esteem, and this can be especially beneficial for school-age children. The Drawing Clubs help children retain and develop these drawing abilities and sustain their enthusiasm for self-expression within an artist-led environment. The skills learned can also support students’ pursuit of a wide range of creative subjects in school, further and higher education, and open doors to careers in the arts, design, architecture, and science. The Drawing Clubs are led by professional artists who are alumni of the Royal Drawing School’s postgraduate programme |
